Disposal method of lithium battery fire

1. If there is a small fire and the flame does not spread to the high-voltage battery part, carbon dioxide or ABC dry powder fire extinguisher can be used to extinguish the fire.
2. While thoroughly inspecting a fire, do not come into contact with any high-voltage parts, and always use insulated tools for inspection.
3. If the high-voltage battery is bent, twisted, damaged in a fire, it's either disfigured, or a problem with the battery is suspected. Then the amount of water used for fire fighting should not be too small, and the amount of water used for fire fighting should be sufficient.
4. A battery fire can take up to 24 hours to be completely extinguished. Using thermal imaging cameras, it is possible to ensure that the high-voltage battery is completely cooled before the accident is over. Without a thermal imaging camera, the battery would have to be monitored for re-ignition. Smoking indicates that the battery is still hot, and monitoring should be maintained until at least one hour after the battery is no longer smoking.

Guidance on fire extinguishing of electric vehicles in the emergency rescue manual of General Motors in the United States:
If the battery reaches a high enough temperature that it leaks and releases the electrolyte, the electrolyte is definitely flammable. This requires the use of a large amount of water to cool the battery and extinguish the fire. Because the DC and AC systems are not grounded, firefighters can safely use water as the main fire extinguishing agent without the risk of electric shock. ABC dry powder fire extinguishers will not extinguish battery flames. Firefighters should avoid direct internal contact while extinguishing or disengaging any high voltage components, which can potentially result in electric shock.
Lithium batteries need a lot of water to put out a fire, which requires a long time and patience, and cooling is critical.
Electric car fires can be extinguished with water, but use a lot of water, German research has found. After adding F-500 and Firesorb additive, the fire extinguishing effect is greatly improved.
Research in the United States has found that for lithium-ion batteries in portable devices, water-based fire extinguishing agents have the best cooling effect, while gas and dry powder fire extinguishing agents are not effective.
